Dentro el proyecto "Wi Fi El Alto" pretendemos introducir el uso de Software Libre en los colegios del area de intervencion, buscando en la web me encuentro con un libro de la Unesco...

Hace tiempo UNESCO cumple su parte en la tarea de promoción del Software Libre. Y en el año 2007 publicaba una Guía Práctica de Software Libre: Se trata de un documento emitido por el Sector de Información y Comunicación de la Oficina Regional de Ciencia para América y el Caribe con sede en Montevideo.

¿Qué se dice sobre Educación?

El documento plantea varias razones para incentivar al uso del Software Libre en educación, algunas de ellas son:
La posibilidad de guiar al estudiante en torno a la profundización y producción del conocimiento.
La disminución de los costos para las instituciones educativas y la posibilidad de evitar el uso de copias ilegales.
La libertad de adaptar los softwares a las necesidades locales y de los alumnos.
La posibilidad para los alumnos y profesores de participar en su construcción y adaptación.
La transmisión de ideas de libre circulación, trabajo colectivo y responsabilidad.
La promoción de la investigación, el desarrollo y la innovación.
La posibilidad de mostrarle a los alumnos que el conocimiento no está acabado, que puede participar de su producción, difundirlo y compartirlo.
